Carp Ridge EcoWellness Center is set on 196 acres of land that includes forest, wetlands, the rocky Carp ridge, a pond, and mown lawns for leisure activities. Trails marked with blue and yellow triangles weave through the forest, offering you walks several kilometres of walking on this secluded land that is made available to B&B guests, program participants and members of the EcoWellness Centre. You might spot deer, or our resident porcupine who lives up a tree. You can spot where he lives because there’s a spectacular pile of his droppings at the foot of the tree.
The wetlands are their own special ecology. In Spring you can pick wild blue berries there. A seasonal creek flows through the land, right by the B&B, into the pond. The pond and wetlands are great places for finding frogs and other small wildlife.
Science research has recently shown that walking barefoot on the earth clears our bodies of electromagnetic radiation absorbed while working on computers and under strip lights. We invite you to take a barefoot walk along our mown grass path which leads you around the deer fenced garden. If you practice mindful walking, this is a great way to start your day, creating a scenic route from nearby the B&B to the clinic for where you can get a restorative massage or infrared sauna.
Proximity of the woodland to the B&B means you can take regular dips into the natural world, which will suffuse you with the smells of earth, the sounds of birds and insects, and the serenity of this beautiful land. Contact with nature reduces ADHD in children, reduces stress in all of us, and helps return us to harmonious balance. Connection with the natural world is key to our balance and healing.
