We’re inspired by the vision of a health care system that incorporates healthful, gentle visits to forests as a strategy for wellness. Take time to ‘find yourself' in our forest.
Carp Ridge EcoWellness Center is set on 190 acres of land that includes forest, wetlands, the rocky Carp ridge, a pond, and mown lawns for leisure activities. Trails weave through the forest, offering you several kilometres of walking on this secluded land that is made available to patients and program participants at the EcoWellness Centre. You might spot deer or our resident porcupine!
The wetlands are their own unique ecology. In Spring, you can pick wild blueberries there. A seasonal creek flows through the land into the pond. The pond and wetlands are great places for finding frogs and other small wildlife.
Scientific research has recently shown that forest bathing and walking barefoot on the earth clears our bodies of electromagnetic radiation absorbed while working on computers and under strip lights. We invite you to take a barefoot walk along our mown grass path, leading you around the deer fenced garden. If you practice mindful walking, this is a great way to start your day.
The proximity of the woodland to the clinic means you can take regular dips into the natural world, which will suffuse you with the smells of earth, the sounds of birds and insects, and the serenity of this beautiful land. Contact with nature reduces ADHD in children, reduces stress in all of us, and helps return us to harmonious balance. Connection with the natural world is key to our balance and healing.
