Amazing Volunteers!

Thank you so much to Kelsey, Haley, Hannah, Katherine and Madeleine for volunteering at Carp Ridge EcoWellness Centre on Wednesday May 6, 2015. With the help of you and your team, we were able to get our fire pit ready for the summer programs; move four trailers full of brush and collect a good portion of the garbage and recycling that has landed on the roadside over the winter. You diverted a great deal of recyclable material from going to a landfill for which we are truly grateful. read more…

Tribute to Charles Bailey  (June 29, 1942 – March 3, 2015)

Charles was an endearing patient of mine for several years.  We had one of those instant heart connections and it was a true honour to work with him.  In spite of a long relationship with cancer that created a lot of limitations, Charles did his best to continue enjoying the little things in life, including riding his motorcycle!

Charles was a gentle soul with piercing blue eyes, read more…

March Against  Monsanto

Mission Statement

On Saturday May 23, 2015, activists around the world will, once again, unite to March Against Monsanto.

Why do we march?

Research studies have shown that Monsanto’s genetically-modified foods can lead to serious health conditions such as the development of cancer tumours, infertility and birth defects. In the United States, the FDA, the agency tasked with ensuring food safety for the population, is steered by ex-Monsanto executives, and we feel that’s a questionable conflict of interests and explains the lack of government-lead research on the long-term effects of GMO products. Recently, the U.S. Congress and president collectively passed the nickname… See More

Not Being Able to Do the Most Important Thing…

Sitting at my kitchen window again, I’m listening to birds and enjoying blossom-scented air wafting in through screens keeping an army of mosquitos at bay.  It’s my favourite time of year despite the insects and I’m hoping that spraying with garlic oil will discourage them enough for us to be able to enjoy the outdoors in peace.  I’ll let you know, as it’s a non-toxic product and would be a marvellous solution if it works.  If so, I’m even going to take it camping!

Water Conservation

Did you know that water levels this spring are the lowest since the early 1900’s?  If you are on a well wanting to avoid going dry or in the city trying to decrease your water bill, here are some ways to save a good percentage of your household water: read more…
