How do you know visceral manipulation is good for you?
by Aviva Cohen
I spent years with back pain, and I always thought I wasn’t working out enough. Meanwhile, I had eating disorders, and I was seriously backed-up. I hadn’t menstruated more than 3 times a year since I was 16 (when the eating disorders started).
I always knew something was wrong, but doctors humiliated me, prescribed Ex-Lax. Needless to say, I was an early convert to natural health care by the time I was 20. I benefited from colonic irrigation, nutritional awareness, energy work, yoga, shamanism, you name it.
I tried Arvigo techniques in Mayan abdominal massage, Thai yoga massage, acupuncture, chiropractic. . . .
And then I found visceral manipulation.
What I find amazing about visceral manipulation is that it goes to the source. All things being equal, one system alone can not cut it with overall health. However, have you ever felt someone go straight to the source of your pain, put a finger on it, and it felt good?
This was my experience with visceral manipulation. And you are a perfect candidate for VM if you experience long-term chronic digestive issues which seem to improve for a time, but then reach a healing plateau — and you never really improve further. Everything helps, but nothing really gets to the source.
The same with painful menstruations or no menstruations at all, difficulty conceiving, pain after giving birth. Or if you have acid reflux, kidney or gall stones, liver congestion and depression. Or you’re male, have an enlarged prostate and would rather not go through surgery.
My favourite: you have sugar cravings, or are hypo- or hyper-glycemic. Do you have irritable bowel syndrome? Hiatal hernia? Do you have anxiety?
Also, whenever the organs are impacted, they make us very sleepy. An unhappy organ just wants to shut us down so all our energy resources can go there. And meanwhile your back is aching and so are your hips, maybe your legs, too, and it’s difficult to breathe.
My wish for you is to know that it doesn’t have to be this way, and that there is a way out. Visceral manipulation has been around for 30 years in Europe and is only now gaining popularity in the rest of the world. Jean-Pierre Barral, the developer, has been named by Time magazine as one of the top healing innovators to watch in the 21st century.
