Five minutes down the road from the centre, the Diefenbunker Cold War Museum is a fascinating four-story, 100,000 square foot underground bunker intended to house important people in the event of a nuclear war.  See www.diefenbunker.ca for tours and times.

Down the road from the EcoWellness Centre is KIN Vineyards with friendly people who would like you to visit!  Check out their events at www.kinvineyards.com and tell them we sent you!

The Hive is a collection of stores and services in downtown Carp where you can find gorgeous flower arrangements, get your teeth cleaned and your hair cut, and shop for wild and wonderful consignment clothes!   613-470-4483 (HIVE), 3755 Carp Rd, ON

Fitzroy Harbour Provincial Park – Where we go to swim on hot summer days, cross country ski in winter and hike year round!  It’s 15 minutes north of the centre on the Ottawa River.  613-623-5159  5201 Canon Smith Dr., Fitzroy Harbour

Harvest Moon Orchard – Across the road from the centre is a delightful apple orchard and seasonal store (August to December).  4625 Carp Rd, 613-839-0378.

Carp Farmer’s Market – One of the best things about the village of Carp is our farmer’s market.  Open on Saturdays 8-1 from Mother’s Day weekend to end of October,  www.carpfarmersmarket.ca.

 

Hiking Trails near Ottawa:

Carphills.com is the site for the Crazy Horse Trail, about a 10 minute drive from the centre.

 

Biking Trails near Carp:

We carry copies of the official cycling map of Ottawa, just ask!  As of now, you need to bring your own bikes and helmets.

 

Almonte:

One of the nearest towns to Carp, Almonte is known for its rich cultural life.  We carry its local paper, the HUMM, if you would like some guidance in exploring this delightful area just 20 minutes west.

 

Golf:

There are several golf courses in the area.  Check online or with us whether we carry coupons for bed and breakfast guests.

 

Skating:

Local rinks offer recreational ice skating.  Ask us for the schedule.

 

Horseback Riding:

There are 3 horseback riding locations near the centre.  We carry information, just ask.

 

Carp Splash Pad:

Nice to take the kids on a hot day!  Ask us for directions.

 

Carp Fair:

The most exciting event in Carp and one of the biggest fall fairs in Eastern Ontario.  It takes place on the third weekend in September and attracts over 50,000 people!

 

Skiing:

The closest ski resort is Mount Pakenham in the town of Pakenham, about 20 minutes from the centre.  This is a great hill for beginners and children.
