Healing House happenings: wellness guest lodging
By Karen Secord, CREWC Marketing Manager
The Healing House concept is alive and well. In fact, in the past month our enthusiasm for its potential has flourished.
The first Healing House Host Training Program is moving ahead successfully. We are now more than half way through. The course involves 90-minutes of in-class time and about four hours of independent study each week. The learning outcomes include everything from Ayurveda to emotional healing, nutrition, movement and the environment. The outline and content Katherine has developed is not only comprehensive, it is truly interesting and informative. Provisions for the all-important hands-on component are now being developed.
Meanwhile, I met with Larry White, Academic Manager of Part-time Studies at Algonquin College, to discuss the possibility of Algonquin offering the HH Training Program commencing September 2012. After our initial meeting at his office, Mr. White joined me on the Carp Ridge for a tour of the property and to learn about CREWC’s various health and environmental initiatives. His response was positive and we are looking forward to partnering with Algonquin on a variety of fronts.
The Carp Ridge Healing House (www.healinghousecanada.com) took a brief hiatus while we restructured. Katherine and her adorable grandson, Felix, moved back in to the main part of the house leaving the apartment as our new fully dedicated Healing House dwelling.
Come relax with us. The Carp Ridge Healing House is a country retreat with a healing mission — a wellness guest lodging. Come alone or bring your family. Children are most welcome. We offer a wheelchair accessible fully-contained apartment with private entrance, one queen bed, two twin beds, and a well-appointed kitchen. Cook your own food or let us cook for you. Housekeeping is provided.
Only steps from the Carp Ridge Natural Health Clinic, Healing House guests are invited to enjoy a massage, have a sauna, consult an ND, or embark on emotional healing through JourneyWork.*
