As a Fellow of the American Board of Naturopathic Oncology (FABNO), she is one of only a handful of naturopathic doctors in Canada who are board certified in Naturopathic Oncology.

Dr. Kirchner has recently decided to return to private practice after serving as Chief Clinical Medical Officer at an integrative cancer centre.

Her mission is to accompany patients throughout the spectrum of their cancer journey before, during and after conventional treatment. Dr Kirchner designs programs to help people at various stages of chemotherapy, radiation and surgery. Therapies are recommended to enhance current treatments, reduce potential side effects, kill cancer cells and support the body, mind and spirit.

When conventional treatment is completed, programs are focused on preventing recurrence and maintaining optimal overall health.

Dr. Kirchner has a strong scientific background and concentrates on using agents that have been rigorously studied to show their safety and effectiveness in the treatment of cancer. Over the years she has established very good professional relationships with local oncologists and is open to working together for the overall wellbeing of patients.

Dr. Kirchner is certified in intravenous therapy and has additional training in central vascular access and advanced parenteral therapy.

She is considered a leading expert in the use of intravenous vitamin C for cancer; establishing the first large-scale IV vitamin C clinic in Ottawa in 2005. She is currently involved in several research projects looking at the benefits of intravenous vitamin C in oncology as well as publishing several case reports on the subject.

Leesa was recently featured in a book written by one of her patients, Tamara Levine, about her journey through breast cancer treatment using both conventional and complementary medicine: But Hope is Longer: Navigating the Country of Breast Cancer, published by Second Story Press in 2012.

Dr. Kirchner is a member of the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors, the Society for Integrative Oncology and the International Society for Orthomolecular Medicine.

She is currently accepting new patients at the Carp Ridge Natural Health Clinic and has established the area’s first IV vitamin C treatment facility.
